Local Riding Options

Link Pathway

The Link Pathway, a 42km walking and cycling trail, began in 2005 to connect Havelock, Picton, Anakiwa and the end of the Queen Charlotte Track in Marlborough. Four sections of abandoned historic birdle path were re-discovered which has been constructed over 150 years ago, adding significant heritage to the pathway.  Take in the impressive views of the Marlborough Sounds and native bush and complete the track in one go or in sections. The maps provided below show how the trail can be completed in sections. (Some sections are yet to be completed). You can chose to ride a section of the track, and then return to Picton on the road – its a nice option for a few hours

Picton Mountain Bike Tracks

Click on the Picton by Foot and Bike map above to see the local mountain bike options on the Snout Peninsula just behind our office.  There are options available for all levels for a few hours riding.

The Picton trails are a hidden gem in the top of the south. These trails are a ‘must do’ while in Picton. With the help of a passionate group of local trail builders this area is constantly evolving and developing.

Trails start at either Picton Marina or the carpark at Sussex street. A short climb up to the reservoir and the ridge line offers stunning views over Picton and over the Marlborough sounds.

Trails are mostly grade 2-4 single track in native bush. This area allows you to head out for a fun 30min blast or spend a few hours exploring all the trails.

Trails to look out for:

Ridgeline
Traverse the hillside just below the ridgeline on the eastern side links onto Westside.

Westside
Fast fun and flowy with views over the sounds.

GDS
A challenging short downhill blast through native forest, a real test in the wet.

Kanuka Track
Continue on from the end of Westside, riding a further 3.5kms to the end of the snout. A great family trail.

Grip it and rip it (beside Leicester Trail)
Tight, tech and  twisty trail trough the bush..whoop whoop!

Annex and the Doctor
Advanced downhill trails of short duration

Queen Charlotte Track

Select our one, two or three day packages which include mountain bike hire, water transport and land passes for those wanting to ride the Queen Charlotte Track for a day or more.
